Dab
Commentary (Expanded Hash Trash)
It was a special occasion, the Yinz Gang from Pittsburgh shouldered the flour
bag, and set trail for us. Boasting of amazing trail, and a beer stop in a
brewery, the hares had trail all set for us by the time we all arrived at the
start. So without delay, we were off in search of stray baking ingredients
strewn about the neighborhood. The runners took off, leaving the walkers to fend
for themselves, dashing down and crossing several streets, until we found
ourselves in a vacant lot. Crossing over some railroad tracks, we found a check
against a wall, and this is where I started to roam. Not finding any marks in
the direction I checked, I kept going and turned left off the track, crossed the
street, and ended up making my way across campus.
Eventually exploring many alleyways I popped out the far end, and found trail
again just before crossing the Cass Street bridge. Working my way back around
the pack, I found myself back out in front as we worked our way towards Ybor.
Once again, checking the wrong way on an intersection, I made a large loop in
around and you guessed it . . . first to worst. Mingling in again with the
walkers for a bit, trail was soon back in my windshield, and after a couple dark
empty streets later, a couple of us found the brewery and the scheduled beer
stop . . . but with little interest of going inside to get all over heated and
stiff, we continued on the final mile to the finish . . . where the hash coolers
awaited us.
As the FRB pack gathered around the van, we stood there, teeth a chattering,
drinking our free beer and waited . . . and waited . . . and waited . . . nearly
an hour, for the remainder of the pack to waddle into the finish. Nearly frozen,
we were informed that the park was closing in 15 minutes. So a hasty circle was
commenced, our visiting hares and other assorted Yinzians were praised, and we
scampered out of the park just in time and headed to the local pub for a few
snacks and another round of adult beverages. Now home, showered, and cozily snug
in my bed . . . Zzzzzzzzzzz
