Comments, Map
of Trail, Other?
It was a descent turnout
for this night of perfect weather. There were 19 faces in total. No
out-of-towners, just locals. The only glitch was that the Buckets Sports Grill,
our starting location and intended on after, closed at 9 PM, even though it says
they close at 11 PM, on weeknights, on the internet. They said if we would've
called at least 2 days in advance they could have stayed open later for us. But,
since I had to spare hare it, at the last minute, there wasn't enough time to
get this coordinated. So, the pack took a vote and decided to go to Hooters at
Gandy and Manhattan for the on after instead. Also, some drunks from the bar
felt it necessary to come out an tell us we couldn't drink liquor on the
property and that we should come inside and drink the bar's beer if we were
going to be drinking on the property. I suspected this would be the case, so I only planned to
start the trail at the Buckets and end it elsewhere (A to B trail). We can usually get by with
doing circle at the start next to a bar, but not circle at the end, at least not on
the bar's premises.
Although I don't think we were really drinking on their property. I had the
beer van backed up to the field next door to the south and we did our circle at
the start there and not on the bar's property. Guess I should've parked the van
in the field actually. We basically ignored the drunks that came out to talk to
us because I had told the owner what we were doing earlier he was fine with it.
I think those were just some local bar flies coming out trying to flap their
wings a little. But, if you we want to use Buckets as an on in the future, suggest
you coordinate at least 2 days in advance to make sure they can remain open (on
weeknights anyway) for
us and so we can use them as an on after. And make sure the circle at the start
is well off of their property so we can drink our own beer without making the
bar flies nervous. Actually, it might be better to just start and end somewhere
else and only use Buckets as an on after. Great bar though, just not very good
clientele. There's some creepy people that hang out there. See below for the
runners & walkers A to B trail.
